Heat Pumps

Air and ground source heat pumps

An air-source heat pump can provide efficient heating and cooling for your home. When properly installed, an air-source heat pump can deliver up to three times more heat energy to a home than the electrical energy it consumes. This is possible because heat pumps move heat rather than convert it from fuel, as traditional combustion heating systems do.

Our heat pump systems are highly economical and eco-friendly. We can supply and fit air-to-heat pumps and air-to-water heat pumps for your residential or commercial property.

The Difference Between Air To Air And Air To Water

Providing your property with the right heat pump system depends on what you need it to do. An air-to-water heat pump distributes heat through your existing wet central heating system and can also produce hot water. An air-to-air heat pump creates warm air and circulates it through your property using specially installed fans.

Air source heat pumps

Air source heat pumps extract heat from the air around the external unit, a fan sucks air across a heat exchanger filled with refrigerant, which is at a lower temperature than the surrounding air. The refrigerant harvests this heat and transfers it to a compressor where it creates higher levels of heat. It is these higher temperatures which heat the house and hot water.

Air source units are connected to oversized radiators to permit lower flow temperatures and increased efficiencies, underfloor heating and suitably designed hot water cylinders. They are around 300% efficient and can save approximately 30% in comparison to gas and 50-70% compared to oil or LPG.

Ground source heat pumps

Ground source heat pumps work by extracting heat from the earth through a network of underground pipes. Similar to an air source heat pump, refrigerant harvests heat from the ground and transfers it to a compressor where it creates higher levels of heat. It is these higher temperatures which heat the house and hot water.

Ground source units are connected to oversized radiators to permit lower flow temperatures and increased efficiencies, underfloor heating and suitably designed hot water cylinders. They are around 300% efficient and can save approximately 30% in comparison to gas and 50-70% compared to oil or LPG.
